Department of Communication

Communication is one of the oldest pedagogical fields in Western history. Known as rhetoric by the Greeks and Romans, the discipline taught students how to communicate in a public setting. The communication department at Lake Forest College seeks to provide students with a sophisticated understanding of the processes of communication both among individuals and within cultures and societies. Students develop the ability to analyze and master the various forms of communication: oral, written, and visual. They study the role of communication in history and modern society. They prepare themselves for careers in the modern information society.
