LEAP
The League for Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP) is an on-campus organization committed to progressing the campus' level of environmental friendliness and awareness to new heights. LEAP provides recycling bins for students to check out every semester the student is on campus. LEAP also sponsors bonfires, speakers, and shows movies relating to environmental issues. In addition, LEAP fights for ecological solutions to various problems, from lawncare issues to energy costs. Members of the organization have gone on camping trips, gave presentations in downtown Chicago, attended programs sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Council, participated in the Homecoming parade, and even traveled to Washington D.C. for a protest. In order to be aware of various global issues, LEAP is a member of various off-campus organizations, including PETA, the Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), and the Sierra Club.
