Lake Forest College Student Government

The purpose of General Assembly as stated in the Lake Forest College Student Government Constitution is "to coordinate, encourage, and guide student activities, provide opportunities for the exercise of student leadership and responsibility in a working democratic organization; assume such powers and perform such duties as it may better the general welfare of the student body."

Student Government is a representative voice of the student body. General Assembly serves as the link between the students and the administration of the college and is a vital portion of the college's governance system. General Assembly serves multiple purposes and pursues a different agenda every year, however consistent obligations are to distribute funding to student organizations and approve new student organizations. For the academic year of 2008-2009, Student Government plans to promote a campus environment that embraces cultural diversity and works to improve the academic and social life at our college. Although, Student Government has elected officers and representatives, every member of the student body is an important part of Student Government and is welcomed and encouraged to attend meetings and voice their opinions to a student governance system that is eager to listen.

The Lake Forest College Student Government has resumed session once again, this year under the direction of President Chase Cook '11 and Student Government Advisor and Associate Dean of Students Chris Waugh. The other Student Government Executive Board Officers are: Zibba Patten '11, Vice President; Riley Hutchingson '12, Treasurer; and Milana Mensah '11, Secretary.

The Student Government Web site is the source for current Student Government initiatives. As news and plans from General Assembly and the Executive Board are passed at meetings, the news will be posted and spread throughout campus through announcements and General Assembly representatives. Look for regular updates on this Web site.

Student Government wishes everyone a good semester and looks forward to serving the student body at Lake Forest College.
